An application sure to please any finicky client, my logo will now include a convenient UI to adjust its size and complexity! Not just scaling, but actually changing the design of the logo to take up space or minimize as desired.
As anything else, the first step is to make a sketch. In this case, a basic state machine can be outlined to show the structure of the interaction without getting caught up in the specifics.
As shown, the UI should transition between the logo states until a point where is “crashes” and resets to the default. My over-ambitious creative brain wants to make as many states as possible to make the transition smooth and exciting, but I need a working prototype before getting carried away with design and animation.
In the exploratory phase of logo states and styles, I’m trying to settle on five solid designs. On the minimal end, the logo should consist of a single shape or letterform. And on the complex end, it should be barely legible and loud. All iterations should also have a unifying style with the blackletter influence of the original logo.
Some unique challenges in this project that I’m looking to tackle are:
As another side project, I am updating my profile picture to reflect my current look!
Inspired by the incredible artwork of Yukinobu Tatsu, creator and illustrator of Dandadan, I started taking a more expressive approach to my portrait drawings. Tatsu’s style is so technically impressive but loose and gestural in the exciting moments of the story. It could be considered typical of manga but what is amazing is his efficacy to convey feelings, not just visual information.
